Doctor Denis Agret was removed from the Order of Physicians by decision of the national disciplinary chamber dated September 26, 2024. His sanction will take effect on January 1, 2025.
This new decision replaces that of spring 2022 banning him from practicing medicine for three years. He appealed, his request was rejected and his penalty increased.
The doctor said to himself “very surprised”. “I haven’t had any letters from my lawyer. It was a journalist who told me that.”he declared by telephone to France 3 Occitanie, Monday September 30. He continues: “It’s something serious. It’s probably more political than medical,” underlines the one who declares himself as a “whistleblower”. He regrets that there is “no discussion with the authorities. But if I bother, I leave. They make me look like I’m crazy. For me, it’s always a war, because the government doesn’t want to talk about it”.
For his lawyer, Hervé-Charles Bernard-Stento, this decision is “unfair. Totally disproportionate and incomprehensible”. “Disbarment is for a doctor who has committed a crime. Even Didier Raoult was not removed”, he assures. He continues: “It’s extremely worrying. We see that there is political will. We are dealing with a sanction that does not correspond to usual case law. The decision is frightening”.

The Hérault authority had decided to remove the practitioner from the list of the Order, which forced him to no longer be able to practice his profession. But in October 2023, after several months of procedure, the national body rejected the decision of the Hérault departmental council of doctors. Denis Agret was able to return to the profession.
