The Cure Announce New Album, First in 16 Years

-

The Cure fans are in turmoil. The band has just announced the release of a new album, on November 1st. This record, the first since 4:13 Dream in 2008, is called Songs of a lost world.

To inform their fans of this major event, Robert Smith’s band sent out black postcards all week with the words “Songs of a lost world” and a date, November 1, 2024. They also put up a sign outside The Railway pub in the town of Crawley.

Why choose this pub in a small town in West Sussex, between London and Brighton? Because it’s where they gave their very first concert, in 1978. Crawley is the town where the members of the group come from.

The sign, also black and bearing only the album title and the release date, written in Roman numerals, was installed on September 13.

Finally, another clue for fans, the group has changed its profile on social networks to adopt a new logo on a black background as well. The official website of the group has also adopted this new appearance.

This album is a real sea serpent. As early as 2020, Robert Smith spoke about these two albums, one with the group, the other solo, produced during confinement.

Fans are waiting for the album Songs of a lost world for over two years. Robert Smith announced it in March 2022 during an interview on the sidelines of the NME Awards, mentioning working on two albums. The first, Songs of a lost worldwas then due to be released in September 2022.

Since then, the group has revealed during its tour Shows of a lost world in 2023, several new songs, including Alone, Endsong, Nothing Is Forever et I Can Never Say Goodbye.

The British group The Cure, revealed in the late 1970s by the hit Boys don’t cry released 13 studio albums in thirty years, peppered with hits like Lullaby, Close to me, Friday I’m in love, A Forest, Just Like Heaven.
