Fans are desperately awaiting the return of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If no official announcement concerning the cult series has been made yet, actress Sarah Michelle Gellar already has an opinion on the matter.
Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer will they finally be entitled to a reboot ? Sarah Michelle Gellar played the teenage vampire slayer from 1997 to 2003. When asked about rumors of a potential return of the series, the actress believed that, if the series were to return, a younger actress would take over the role of Buffy. Sarah Michelle Gellar does not see herself returning to the cult series to play the same role. “It’s been twenty years, so I might need plastic surgery!”she said. “I don’t know if I would approach the role differently. Buffy is such a beautiful character – that will never change”further underlined the actress, who however showed herself to be realistic: “I think they’ll take someone younger if she comes back.”. Sarah Michelle Gellar, however, kept the door open: “If people think I can still save the world and kick ass, I’m OK with that.”.

What could Buffy’s daily life look like today? The actress has a little idea. “I like to think she’s living a good life, a peaceful life, without having to do all the killing that she used to do. But I’m happy with the way we ended.”imagined Sarah Michelle Gellar. She added that the reboot shouldn’t necessarily be limited to a prequel. “It could be anything.” According to her, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, “it’s a universe. It makes you realize that in this world, we need these heroes, I think, more than ever.”

This is not the first time that the actress has spoken about a reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer over the last few months. During an appearance on the show The Drew Barrymore Show in December 2024, she stated that she had long been opposed to it until she discovered the prequel to Dexter, Dexter : Original Sin in which she plays the role of the mentor of the main character, Tanya Martin, head of the scientific police.
