Princess Anne is doing two days of work in South Africa. On her first day, the sister of King Charles III was invited to a reception in the flower garden of the residence of the British High Commissioner in South Africa. Princess Anne also planted a rose bush in the garden.

Princess Anne invited to the residence of the British High Commissioner in South Africa
Princess Anne of the United Kingdom, 74, began her two-day trip to South Africa on January 21, 2025. After a first visit to the associative and equestrian community in Cape Town, Princess Anne went to Pretoria , where she was expected to greet High Commissioner Anthony Phillipson. In Commonwealth countries, the office of ambassador is usually replaced by that of a high commissioner.

The British High Commissioner to South Africa has his official residence in Pretoria, the administrative capital of the country. During her visit to the High Commissioner and his wife Julie, Princess Anne discovered the magnificent garden, in the presence of Bulelani Bashe and Leon Kluge.
-Bulelani Bashe leads the Grootbos Foundation team of horticulturists. The Foundation works to conserve Cape Town’s environment and develop sustainable livelihoods through ecotourism, education and business. As for Leon Kluge, he is a horticulturist who received the gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2024.
Princess Anne planted a “Princess Anne” rose bush in the garden of the residence, in memory of her visit. Princess Anne is making this trip alone, her husband having had to cancel his visit at the last minute. Victim of a fall at their home, Sir Timothy Laurence fears he may suffer from a twisted ligament.
