It is an encounter that Deauville festival-goers will not soon forget. On Saturday evening, during the closing night of the 50th edition of the American Film Festival, Isabelle Adjani paid tribute to Natalie Portman, awarding her a Deauville Talent Award.

In a speech lasting about ten minutes, the Frenchwoman praised the immense career of the American, who began at the age of 13 alongside Jean Reno in Léon. Isabelle Adjani also thanked Natalie Portman for her commitment to the fight against sexual violence in cinema.

Visibly moved by Isabelle Adjani’s words, Natalie Portman hugged her for a long time, before posing in front of the 1,500 spectators in the CID auditorium.

Isabelle Adjani late on the red carpet…

The closing night was scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. But the festivities were a little delayed… because one guest was slow to arrive. Natalie Portman had already arrived a while ago, posing and saying a few words on the red carpet.

Natalie Portman then entered the CID, but the photographers remained in place on the carpet, because one person was missing… in this case Isabelle Adjani! The latter arrived a good quarter of an hour late, but did not cut short her tribute to Natalie Portman, allowing the 1500 spectators to experience a moment that will go down in the history of the Festival.
