One of the biggest musical comebacks of the year is undoubtedly that ofIndochina. With their 14th album titled Babel Babelfans have finally found their favorite band, after sept ans d’absence. But that’s not all. During their exclusive interview on France Blue, Nicola Sirkis and OLi dE SaT confided in us about the behind the scenes of the creation of the album… and about one of their greatest fears.

The show Decibelshosted by Emilie Mazoyerallowed listeners to immerse themselves in the group’s universe for two hours. Nicola Sirkis returned to the impact of the pandemic on the production of the album confiding that the team had to work with masks and be tested continuously. But once the constraints fell, they managed to focus on the essential: the music.

The world in chaos seen by Indochine

Always very visual, Indochine collaborated with the famous photographer David LaChapelle for the cover of Babel Babel. This striking image shows people covering their ears, a metaphor for the current chaos : “It’s a metaphor for today’s world where everyone speaks a different language, where everyone argues and creates controversy.”explained Nicola Sirkis.

For the group, no, it wasn’t better before : “The times are not more chaotic, they are much more media-friendly”the singer said. Through this album, Indochine wants to open the eyes of its audience to the current state of societywhile remaining true to his unique style.

But around this excitement, the pressure is also rising. “When we release an album today, we are not outsiders, everyone is waiting for us at the turn”he confided. This is why the group took the risky bet not to let the media listen to the album before its release official, enough to make more than one person sulk!

Indochina Anguish Revealed

In addition to the stress of waiting for and welcoming this new album, another anxiety was revealed during the interview on France Blue. A question from Emilie Mazoyer brought out one of the group’s greatest fears: “Well, we have to get back to it now, Will we still be able to do it?.

With their usual frankness, the singers respond: “We are not immune to saying sh*t, we have nothing more to tell.” Fortunately, this fear appears to be unfounded, as the group has revealed that it has wrote between 50 and 60 projects in reserve, well hidden on a hard drive. Fans can rest assured, Indochina has not finished surprising us !
