A few days ago, on the occasion of the release of her book “Brooke Shields does not have the right to age”, the former model revealed that she had undergone vaginal rejuvenation without having consented to it, on the occasion of a nymphoplasty. In her memoirs, she widely denounces this profoundly sexist medical procedure. But unfortunately, this is not the only one she has experienced.
The indiscreet questions of two doctors
In 2023, Brooke Shields suffered an epileptic seizure. At the time, she explained that this health problem was caused by low sodium levels, linked to overhydration. On the set of the show “Good Morning America”, she returned to the event, denouncing the bad experiences suffered by women in the medical field.
“We women go through these things… We must be able to say that it is not fair. We must be able to defend and protect ourselves,” she says, before recounting her own misadventure.
“I had an epileptic seizure a few months ago, and the two doctors, both men, asked me if I was “restricting” myself from a food point of view, as part of a loss of weight,” she regrets. “I told them no, because I was a 59-year-old woman who looked younger when she was bloated. Give me some chips!”
And to assert, wearily: “You wouldn’t ask that of a man!”
Not anger, but a desire to make things happen
Brooke Shields affirms: the objective of her book is not to “pit women against men”: “We love the men in our lives”, she specifies. “But it is high time to be able to denounce sexism, without shouting, without getting angry.”
The actress specifies: “I remind my daughters that we don’t need to speak louder to be heard. We just need to be solid in our beliefs, and to be listened to, because the fact of Yelling won’t help us move forward.” A point of view which may not please all feminists, many of whom are tired of having to convey their ideas gently, and would like to be able to express their anger freely.
