The comedian Pierre Palmade appeared on November 20 before the Melun criminal court for “aggravated injuries”almost two years after the road accident he caused while under the influence of drugs in Seine-et-Marne. After apologizing to the families, he was sentenced to five years in prison, including two years. Aged 56, the latter has reportedly received a multitude of letters since his entry into detention, mixing insults and messages of support, as well as various gifts sent by individuals.

This avalanche of letters and parcels would create an overload of work for the guards, forced to carefully check each shipment… According to the prison union, this unprecedented situation considerably complicates daily management within the establishment, to the point of being judged “unbearable and unmanageable”. Incarcerated since December 9 in Bordeaux-Gradignan, in Gironde, where he is placed in solitary confinement due to his psychological fragility, Pierre Palmade now lives in a cell of approximately 10 square meters equipped “a bed, a shower, toilet and basic cooking facilities”.
