She was only a few days old when the first lenses were focused on her face. Presented to the press by her parents, Infanta Elena and the Duke of Lugo, after her birth on September 9, 2000, Victoria de Marichalar y Borbón enchanted the press and gave them a smile that made the front page of the Spanish newspapers. No wonder then that the one who has since become an influencer participates with a disconcerting naturalness in one of the most watched television shows in the country. Candidate in the fifth season ofThe Challenge (“The challenge”), broadcast on the Antenne 3 channel, Victoria participated, on the evening of January 10, in the first episode of this competition which brings together artists, high-level athletes and members of the jet-set.

“I expected more”

The principle is simple: eight celebrities compete for 12 episodes in tests of all kinds, which range from memorization exercises to dance competitions including shooting events. The winner of the season wins 30,000 euros, which they donate to the association of their choice. This year, participants include tennis player Feliciano López and Lola Lolita, a content creator on the social network Tik-Tok. Pablos Motos, one of the show’s producers, describes this season on a daily basis The World as the most intense of all: “I have been doing television for 35 years and I can say that this fifth edition ofThe Challenge is the best thing we’ve ever done in this medium.”

In front of 1.8 million viewers, the niece of King Felipe VI, fifth in the order of succession to the throne, therefore participated in the first test, that of apnea. “It’s the one I fear the most,” she confides during rehearsals. To concentrate during the event, Victoria admits to remembering her childhood memories, when she rode horses, one of her great passions. However, this will not be enough to achieve a feat. The young candidate gives up after 1 minute 38 without breathing. For comparison, the show’s record, held by singer Rosa López, stands at 4 minutes 40.

“I expected more,” admits the cousin of Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, visibly disappointed. And for good reason, she managed to last more than 2 minutes during rehearsals. However, this is not enough to dampen his determination to continue the challenges. HAS The Worldshe confides: “I surpassed myself by doing things that I never thought I would do in my life, and even less on television.” More on January 17.
