A closed but significant affair
Accused of rape in July 2023, Frédéric Beigbeder saw the case dismissed on July 26, 2024, for lack of serious or consistent evidence, as specified by the Pau prosecutor’s office. However, this legal episode had a profound impact on the author, known for his outspokenness and his provocations. In an interview published on January 12, 2025, the writer confides that this affair forced him to do some introspection. “I wanted to stay implicit. I don’t talk about the case at all in the book, yet it’s omnipresent. It was this affair that forced me to work on myself…”he explains.
