Pop star Halsey surprised fans by revealing she hosted metal and hardcore concerts as a teenager in New Jersey, before she became famous.
A past in hardcore
During a meet and greet with fans, Halsey shared that she was involved in the local hardcore scene. In particular, she declared: “I was putting on hardcore shows in New Jersey before I started making Music. The biggest gig I did, I was 16, was August Burns Red and The Devil Wears Prada.”
In addition to promoting underground hardcore bands, she explained that she also works with more well-known bands in the genre.

A strong link with alternative music
Halsey has never hidden her love for alternative music. In 2020, she confided on X: “I remember the confidence I had in myself as a scene kid in 2009. My look? Horrible. My makeup? Even worse. But my self-confidence… incredible.”
She has also collaborated with alternative and rock artists, including Bring Me The Horizon in 2019 for Music To Listen To…. A 2021, son album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power was produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails, with Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) on drums on the song Honey.
