VIDEO – Guest of “Buzz TV”, the journalist presents an edifying documentary on the clandestine war that China is waging in France, this Sunday on M6. He takes the opportunity to talk about his memories of reporting and the threats he was subjected to.
On M6 for a quarter of a century, Bernard de La Villardière never stops traveling the world for his weekly show, “Exclusive Investigation”. This Sunday, the journalist offers an edifying report, France-China, the secret war on the soft power of the Middle Kingdom with regard to our country. “This soft power is something very important and the French are not sufficiently informed“, he explains. “Our director Vincent Prado knows the subject well and proposed this idea to us. We managed to convince former bosses to the DGSE andAirbus to talk to us. Just like the Defense Security Service. And this gives credibility to the report and the broadcast.»
In this issue of “Exclusive Investigation”, we discover the clandestine war that China is waging in France with industrial espionage, state scandals, networks of influence and even physical threats. “Yes, China is very aggressive! », affirms Bernard de La Villardière. “ She is interested in all subjects: high technology, culture, information, heritage, space, air and military. Particularly with this Airbus A320 which was purchased and dismantled piece by piece to create a Chinese plane which is its exact copy ! Same thing with the European geolocation satellite Galileo which was almost sabotaged by a Chinese module. An event that has been passed over in silence…“, he admits.
Among the many countries he has traveled over the past 20 years for the show, Bernard de La Villardière confesses that certain trips have “shaken” et “sometimes shocked”like this topic coming on January 19 on Ukrainian youth. “We followed young Ukrainians who made the choice to sacrifice their lives to defend their country. More than 10 million Ukrainians have been displaced since the start of the war with 100,000 dead and 400,000 injured. I have just returned from Ukraine and in particular from a hospital where I saw 20 year old kids with amputations… I was shaken and I had a feeling of overflowing emotion. Like this report in Lebanon where I interviewed several people who all died in the bombing of their building a few days later. I was very moved…», blurts the journalist.
-“I found it lamentable to be accused of Islamophobia by certain fellow journalists”
Bernard de La Villardière
Often insulted and threatened in France, Bernard de La Villardière explains that he sometimes feels less safe in our territory than abroad. « The insults I receive in France make me angry because it’s intimidation to occupy the land. For me, it’s low-level jihadism “, he explains. “ It’s extremely serious because it’s a way of instilling fear. It is political Islam that is advancing, from the soft power of the Muslim brothers and their affiliates in France. I denounced it in 2016 on the show “Dossier tabou”. This caused me to be accused of Islamophobia by certain colleagues; which I found lamentable. And I would like to point out that this is only a small minority of the North African community living in France.»
Asked to react to the death of Jean-Marie Le Pen, the M6 journalist gave “Buzz TV” a powerful anecdote from his only meeting with the former president of the National Front: “ Le Pen is part of the history of French politics. He is a provocateur who defended his ideas in a bad way with anti-Semitism which made it unbearable. I interviewed him once, in 1988, and after an hour of discussion, I asked him why he made terrible comments and puns about the gas chambers. He told me that he had visited Auschwitz without finding any trace of the genocide! This response was terrible, I got up and left right away ending this discussion! “, he says.
