Among the most noticed reactions, that of Elon Musk particularly attracted attention. The CEO of Tesla and owner of X (formerly Twitter) did not mince his words. In a publication, he expressed his dissatisfaction with this sequence, which he deemed “extremely disrespectful to Christians“. “My manager, Alan Gac, calls me and says: 'Look, Musk has reacted.' I say 'Oh right?' There, I panicked, I said to myself: 'What, did he love it? I hope not'. And he relieved me very quickly, he said to me: 'No no no, don't worry, he hated it.' And then, very good casting: Donald Trump, the bishops, … I couldn't dream of better. And then, Marion Maréchal Le Pen roared in anger. The casting was very good for me because if all these people had loved it, needless to say I would have taken a vow of silence for around ten years in a monastery in Burgundy“, confided the artist.
Philippe Katerine asks for forgiveness
This is obviously not the first time that Philippe Katerine looks back on his performance during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. After the media outburst, he actually spoke on CNN, declaring: “The beautiful thing about the Christian religion is forgiveness. I ask for forgiveness, if I have offended. The Christians of the world will grant it to me, I am sure.”
A few days later, it was on the set of C to you that the singer added: “I don't apologize, because I am very honored to have been part of these incredible Olympics and this picture. I asked for forgiveness, it's very different. I am of Catholic origin and forgiveness, for me, is the sun of Catholicism. Without forgiveness, everything is dark, everything is frozen. We can only grant it, that’s what makes this religion so joyful.“.
