Who are the big favorites?
Already awarded at Cannes and broadcast on the Netlfix platform, Emilia Perez by Jacques Audiard is “is the big favorite, by far“, estimates Pete Hammond, from the specialized site Deadline interviewed by AFP. The musical odyssey has ten nominations, notably in the category of best comedy, best actress, best director, best screenplay, best supporting role and best international film. However, the game does not look easy for Emilia Perezbecause its main competitor is the Cannes Palme d’Or Anora. This film, which tells the story of the trials and tribulations of a young stripper from Brooklyn, is also nominated in the categories of best film, best direction and best actress for Mikey Madison.
Among the other competitors, we also find Wicked. The holiday commercial hit garners four nominations and Cynthia Erivo, who plays the witch in The Wizard of Oz, could win the prize from transgender actress Karla Sofía Gascón. Finally, another film to watch closely: The Substance by French director Coralie Fargeat with these five nominations.
On the series side, no favorite really stands out. The Bear et Only Murders in the Building are in the lead with four nominations for the “comedy” categories. The feel good series from Netflix, Nobody Wants This, garners three nominations. For the “dramas”, Shōgun is one step ahead of Slow Horses et Mr. & Mrs. Smithwith these four nominations compared to three for the other series. To watch closely: the series My Little Reindeer and the second season of Monsters which retrace the lives of the Menendez Brothers, two big hits on the Netflix platform.
Who will be the co-hosts of the 2025 Golden Globes?
Many Hollywood stars will be on stage at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. This Thursday, January 2, the Golden Globes unveiled the list of presenters who will take the stage alongside Nikki Glaser, the first woman to present the Golden Globes alone. We will notably find Andrew Garfield, on the poster of Love in the presentt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Anthony Mackie, Ariana DeBose, Aubrey Plaza but also Catherine O’Hara, Colin Farrell, Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley united in the film The SubstanceDwayne Johnson, Sir Elton John, Glenn Close, Jeff Goldblum, Jennifer Coolidge. Also expected on stage are Kerry Washington, Michael Keaton, Nicolas Cage, Salma Hayek Pinault, Sarah Paulson, Sharon Stone, Viola Davis and Zoë Kravitz.
