Saudi Arabia on Friday expressed its full support for the Syrian people as well as the new administration formed in Syria, reaffirming its desire to contribute to the recovery of the country and preserve its unity and territorial integrity, according to official sources.
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Sheibani “outlined the national vision to establish a Syrian government based on inclusiveness and competence, representing all components Syrians.
“We also presented plans for a comprehensive economic development strategy aimed at attracting investment, encouraging strategic partnerships and improving living conditions and public services,” he added.
Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Syrian people and their new administration.
Sheibani underlined the kingdom’s desire to contribute to the recovery of Syria and support its unity and territorial integrity.
This is the first visit by a Syrian official to the new transitional government formed after Assad’s departure, marking a possible change in regional dynamics and Syria’s role in the Arab world.
Assad, who ruled Syria for nearly 25 years, went into exile in Russia after anti-regime groups took control of Damascus on December 8, ending the Ba’ath Party regime, which had been in place since 1963.
The takeover came after Hayat Tahrir al-Sham fighters captured key towns in a lightning offensive that lasted less than two weeks.
A new administration led by Ahmed al-Charaa has now taken the reins.
