Blake Lively accuses her of sexual harassment and of having organized a smear campaign against her. Justin Baldoni, director and actor of the film “Never again”fired by his agent, organizes the counterattack. He in turn filed a complaint.
And not just against Blake Lively, but against the New York Times. Justin Baldoni calls for $250 million in damages to the American newspaper. He deplores his lack of journalistic integrity in the coverage of this affair.
In turn, Justin Baldoni files a complaint against Blake Lively
He who is suing for defamation explains that the author of the article took up the “false testimonies” Blake Lively without checking. He also filed a complaint for “violation of privacy”.
A few days ago, moreover, his lawyer had already warned. Bryan Freedman then told Deadline: “When we file our first complaint, This will shock everyone who has been manipulated by Blake Lively’s lies“. At the time, he did not specify how many complaints would be filed against the American actress.
And to add however: “These accusations will be supported by evidence and will bring out the truth. In my 30 years of experience, I have never given a lack of ethics of this kind and such media-fueled manipulation.”
To justify this new legal action, Justin Baldoni accuses the NYT in particular. He criticizes him for having cited “private communications out of context – and in some cases falsified – with the aim of promoting a one-sided and specious narrative, clearly designed to malign the plaintiffs”.
In particular, he shares exchanges he allegedly had with his partner, in which they agreed to rehearse scenes together, in his trailer, while she was breastfeeding her newborn.
There are several of them to counterattack
Justin Baldoni is not not the only one to attack everyday life. In total, ten other people, including his public relations agents Melissa Nathan and Jennifer Abel (also attacked by Blake Lively) who participate in this trial.
For his part, the NYT defends its article which would be based on thousands of pages of documents, messages and emails. The reference claims to have “scrupulously verified” the facts”cited precisely and contextualized”.
In a press release, management also specifies: “To date, Justin Baldoni and the others targeted by the article have not pointed out any errors. We have also released their full statement in response to the accusations detailed in our article.”
