Richard Doudet, dedicated president
There are few presidents of the bar in Limoges who will have had as much of an impact as Richard Doudet. Regardless of his detractors and his predecessors, lawyer Richard Doudet took up his duties head-on from the start of his term of office.
In 2023, upon his arrival, he requested an audit from the new treasurer of the order. He is responsible for carrying out a check on the lawyers’ fund and realizes that money has been squandered under the governance of one of his predecessors, Frédéric Olivé, president of the bar from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020. suspicion falls on the secretary general of the Order who is none other than the husband of Frédéric Olivé. The two men appear regularly on social networks around good meals, at the Ritz, in the palaces of Biarritz. A dish is dedicated to them in a restaurant in Limoges, where they have their habits. We eat the famous “bâtonnier’s sweetbreads”. The Bar Association filed a complaint on March 24, 2023 with the public prosecutor against the husband of Frédéric Olivé for “breach of trust”, “forgery” and “use of forgery”.
The secretary general of the Order admits the facts and Frédéric Olivé resigns in April 2023. On November 15, 2024, Frédéric Olivé was permanently removed. We are now awaiting the court decision concerning them.
But Richard Doudet doesn’t stop there. Like his predecessors, he unexpectedly visited the Limoges remand center and noticed serious safety and hygiene problems. “The former presidents put the file on the pile. At least he acted,” a lawyer can only acknowledge, although he is not a big fan of President Doudet. “We can give him credit for that… He moved the lines” Doudet appealed to the administrative court, which required the remand center to act, under penalty. A “victory” for the prisoners who owe a lot to President Doudet.
Cathy Meunier, with a big heart
She repeated two years in college. She was then predicted that she would not do much with her life. But Cathy Meunier is not the type to have her schedule or her future dictated to her. Even less his way of being.
She is one of those women who listen to their heart and their intuition.
After founding ADN 87, a personal assistance company which today employs around a hundred employees, Cathy Meunier heard about Yaya Sow.
In August 2023, this Guinean living in Limoges launched his car against that of a driver, the author of a fatal accident who fled. He pulls him out of the cabin and forces him to stay there while waiting for the police. But as Yaya Sow deliberately threw her car at the author’s car, the insurance refused to compensate her… Cathy Meunier then launched a participatory prize pool. Thanks to the generosity of 723 donors, 13,000 euros were raised. Yaya Sow was able to buy a van.
This year, Cathy Meunier learned from one of her employees that children were sleeping on the street in the middle of winter. “I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I then called “Les Autres”, an association helping the most deprived who told me about this Algerian family. She meets Fatima* and her three children to whom she offers to come and live, in the evenings and on weekends… in her company. A united, human initiative that will change the life of the little family.
“In a few months, my life turned 180 degrees. After my story was publicized, I was called by the prefecture and I quickly obtained a temporary residence permit. My goal was never to take advantage of the system. I didn’t want RSA?! I simply wanted another life for my children,” testifies this woman.
Today, her son and two daughters, aged 6, 15 and 19, continue their schooling without asking questions about where they will sleep. Fatima’s son regularly takes part in raids alongside the association which, just a few months ago, extended a helping hand to him.
First name changed at his request.
Lionel Peluhet, the shared CSP
He is the new strong man of the CSP. Lionel Peluhet took control of the club this summer 2024 (96% of shares) by injecting 1.6 million euros.
The one who gives himself 3 years to turn around the emblematic basketball club has this capacity and this intelligence: he knows how to surround himself with personalities who know basketball, the Limougeaud club and who above all want to invest in pulling the CSP towards the top.
We thus find in the club Xavier Bonafy, former president of the association, appointed deputy executive president, Didier Jamot, former president of the CSP, André Sardain and even the lawyer Pierre Fargeaud who returns to his former position of general director. “I want to return the CSP to the entire territory and not personalize the club,” he summarized to the press. We must give the CSP the glory that should be its own. »And recognize in Peluhet a risk-taking which can only delight the Limougeauds.
Philippe Besson, founder of the International Emergency Fire Brigade
It seems that he is as well known internationally as in Limoges. When he celebrated the 20th anniversary of international emergency firefighters, at the Grand Théâtre de Limoges, Philippe Besson saw personalities from several countries affected by natural disasters parade or rescuers to whom PUI provides training: Croatian firefighters or Greeks, the ambassador of Paraguay, the vice-consul of Turkey in France, Peruvian firefighters responsible for securing Machu Picchu or even Indonesian and Filipino rescue officials, “You You are everyday heroes,” said speakers.
Born on St. Barbara’s Day, firefighters’ day, Philippe Besson could not have worn any other uniform… Initially a volunteer, Philippe Besson became a professional, joining the prestigious Paris fire brigade, passing the officer exams. In 1999, with a group of firefighter friends, he went to the town of Izmit in Türkiye, ravaged by an earthquake. A mission that marks him forever, the memories of which still trouble him. And who will guide his steps in the following years. He then created the International Emergency Fire Brigade, leaving for his first mission on the Banda Aceh Tsunami, in Indonesia. Since then, the 266 members have carried out one mission after another.
In 2024, PUI celebrated its 20th anniversary. Enough to award Philippe Besson the title of man of the year for his investment… and his perseverance.
