Broadcast for the first time in March 1973, The Young and the Restless has since become one of the most cult series on the small screen. Parodied many times but always adored, this American production set television sets alight for several decades, in particular thanks to the success of its characters and therefore its actors. This end of the year therefore has something to sadden fans since this Sunday, December 22, 2024, one of its stars died, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Indeed, the actor Geoffrey Deuel, who played Dave Campbell from 1973 to 1977, died at the age of 81. Sad news, announced by his wife Jacqueline in the columns of the American magazine.
It had been more than twenty years since Geoffrey Deuel last had a role, having last appeared on screen in the film 108 Stitches in 2001. This score ended a career that began in 1965, when he had followed his brother, Peter Deuel, to Hollywood to star in an episode of the series 12 O’Clock High. He subsequently made a name for himself on the big screen, notably in Planet of the Apes, Iron Man and Mission Impossible. In The Rules of the Game, in 1971, he played opposite his older brother. Two years later, in 1973, he became Dave Campbell for the first time. A role that he had honored for four years, becoming one of the essential faces of The Young and the Restless.
