The 19-year-old singer launched a musical career under a pseudonym: a choice he justified in an interview with Gala on December 26.
A son in the image of his father. The second child of Patrick Bruel and Amanda Sthers, Léon Bruel, took his first steps on stage on December 13. The 19-year-old singer gave his very first concert at the Raymond Kabbaz Theater in Los Angeles. Although he is following in his father’s footsteps, he has nevertheless chosen not to do so under his last name, having in fact swapped his name for the pseudonym “Hesby”.
Léon Bruel, now called Léon Hesby, explained his choice in an interview with Gala on December 26: “I have to move forward on my own path and therefore, I did not want to bear the name Bruel”. The singer also detailed the origins of his new surname: ““S” for Sthers, and “B” for Bruel. These are the two letters that structure my name.

Like father, like son
Patrick Bruel approves of his son’s choice. “It’s better that he forms his identity as far away from us as possible. If he needs me, I’m here. But I don’t have to speak for him or make him exist through me,” declared the interpreter of Place of great menduring an interview given to Paris Match last March.
Léon Hesby, for his part, seems to want to pursue his career across the Atlantic, where he has lived since he was eleven. “I want to exist in the United States before arriving in France,” he declared. If I went the opposite way, I would be described as the son of… That’s not my plan. I want to make a name for myself here first.” Léon Hesby follows in his father’s footsteps, and can count on the support of his family.
