The traditional Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey, organized each year by Princess Kate, was broadcast on British television on Tuesday, December 24. Viewers were finally able to watch the ceremony almost a month after it took place, on December 6. Images which end a difficult year for Kate Middleton, who announced that she had cancer last March.

Excerpts from this evening entitled The Together at Christmas Carol Servicewhich was attended by some 1,600 people, was published by the teams of the Princess of Wales and her husband, Prince William, on social networks. We can notably see Kate Middleton, 42, wearing a long red coat by British designer Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.

“This Christmas service is a heartfelt celebration of each of you,” says Kate Middleton in voice-over.

“It is also a reminder that at Christmas, as throughout the year, we must all shine for each other because in times of joy and sadness, we are all the light I wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas.

The princely couple was surrounded by their three children, princes George et Louis (11 and 6 years old) and the Princess Charlotte (9 years old). The latter stole the show from her brothers, according to The Independantsometimes distinguished by mischievous laughter, sometimes by the help she gave her younger brother to hold a candle.

Prince William, sporting the beard that made headlines in the British press in September, spoke during the ceremony to read a passage from the Bible. As reported by the Daily Mail, readings were also provided by actor Richard E. Grant, by the star of Downton Abbey Michelle Dockery or by Sophie Okonedo, nominated at the 2005 Oscars in the best supporting actress category for Hotel Rwanda.

Difficult year

This ceremony ends a particularly trying year for the royal family, and for Kate Middleton: King Charles III and the princess both announced that they were suffering from cancer, in February then in March respectively, the nature of which was not confirmed. not been revealed.

King Charles III is still under treatment; Kate Middleton, for her part, announced in September the end of his chemotherapy. In recent months, she has reappeared in the media sphere after a period away from the spotlight.
