Na In Woo has been officially exempted from military service.
On December 17, media outlet Sports Chosun reported that Na In Woo was recently exempted from military service after spending three years waiting to be called into the civil service. Following his grade 4 classification (this is non-active service in the civil service) during the military physical examination, he was scheduled to perform alternative service. However, he did not receive a summons from the military personnel administration within the required time frame, making him eligible for the exemption.
According to South Korea’s military service law, Grade 4 individuals who are not drafted within three years are granted a “peacetime exemption.” This is a special exemption that affects a few thousand individuals each year because the military manpower required is less in peace. Since 2019, more than 10,000 people each year have benefited from this exemption. This year, Na In Woo is one of them.
Na In Woo’s agency, HANADA Company, confirmed the news, saying:
“It is true that Na In Woo was exempted from military service by the Military Personnel Administration. As this is a decision based on the decision of the Military Personnel Administration, we have no further comments to make. »
When the company was asked if its Grade 4 classification was due to a long-standing health problem, the agency responded:
“We’re not sure. We should confirm with Na In Woo himself, but he is currently filming. »
Na In Woo will star in MBC’s new drama “Motel California” alongside Lee Se Young starting January 10, 2025.
