Snoop Dogg during the breaking competition at the 2024 Olympics
The French group Publicis called on Snoop Dogg, successful American rapper and star host of the Paris Olympic Games, to celebrate the group's arrival at the head of the communications and advertising sector, thus overtaking its British rival WPP .
Snoop Dogg, omnipresent in the media during the 2024 Olympic Games, which he covered as a special correspondent for the American channel NBC, appears alongside the chairman and CEO of Publicis, Arthur Sadoun, in a video published on the group's YouTube channel to send “2025 wishes” to “the entire Publicis family”.
“What is Publicis holding?” says the American rapper in the video, playing on the literal translation of Publicis Holdings.
“I don't know,” he adds, “but what I do know is that the Americans, the British and the French competed to see which holding company was the 'top dog'.” alluding to the rivalry between different companies in the sector.
“And this year, Publicis surpasses them all,” says the rapper. “Number 1 b***h.”
The parent company of Leo Burnett and Saatchi & Saatchi agencies has grown faster this year than the industry's three other major groups, WPP, Interpublic and Omnicom, thanks in part to the targeted advertising capabilities of its Epsilon unit, powered by a huge quantity of data on consumer behavior.
For the first nine months of 2024, Publicis reported net income of €10.11 billion.
WPP, the world's number one for decades, reported equivalent revenue, less passed-on costs, of 8.36 billion pounds, or 10.08 billion euros.
