“I’m learning a lot about life here”: Christian from Denmark’s news from Africa

Dressed in a simple white T-shirt, his hair shorter than usual, he poses in front of the camera. Behind him, trees as far as the eye can see. This November 28, 2024, the Court released new photos of Crown Prince Christian of Denmark. The young man has been in East Africa since the beginning of last September “where daily life is completely different from that of my country of origin”, he wrote on the palace's social networks. In the published photos, we see the eldest child of King Frederik

“In recent weeks I have been working in nature conservation. I help monitor and record animals in the bush and look after the office on the farm. As the video shows, I I get as close as possible to wild animals when their GPS collars are replaced under anesthesia,” the future king proudly explains. “I am learning a lot about life here and helping to build new houses for the employees,” adds Crown Prince Christian of Denmark about his various missions in East Africa.

A daily life that is certainly studious but also has moments of relaxation for the 19-year-old young man. “I also played a few good matches with the locals,” he says. For these matches, he donned a green “Majete – 10” flocked jersey and matching shorts. An outfit that did not escape our Danish colleagues from Picture-Magazine. According to them, “Majete” refers to the nature reserve of the same name, located in Malawi. Christian from Denmark could therefore be in this country. Until now, the location of the crown prince had not been revealed, the Amalienborg Palace having insisted on keeping the exact location of his stay secret as a security measure.

If “the food, culture, climate, wildlife, tasks and people make it an experience that[il] will never forget”, the son of the Danish sovereigns is delighted to be reunited with his loved ones very soon. The Court announced on November 27 that the future king would spend the Christmas holidays at Marselisborg Palace with his parents Frederik X and Mary, his sisters, Princess Isabella and Princess Josephine, his brother, Prince Vincent, and his grandmother, Queen Margrethe. The opportunity for Christian to tell the story of his African adventures to his family. perhaps to slip presents brought back in their luggage under the tree.

However, what the crown prince is “looking forward to” are the “new challenges” that await him next year. Indeed, “in February, I will begin my military service in the Guard Hussar Regiment in Slagelse,” he reveals. It is in this city, 95 kilometers southwest of Copenhagen, that the Officers' School is located. An establishment frequented a few years ago by Christian's cousins, Count Nikolai and Count Felix de Monpezat. Before throwing in the towel after just a few months. For Picture-Magazine“it is undoubtedly no coincidence that the crown prince will serve in the guard hussar regiment”, once again following in the footsteps of King Frederik as called for”, recalls the Danish magazine. As for daily life B.T.it states that “this regiment has proud traditions of fighting and horsemanship, whilst also carrying out duties for the royal household”.
