Known for her amazing duo in Le Meilleur Pâtissier with her companion André-Jean, Mercotte opens up like never before about their intimacy.
Since the launch of the very first season of Best Pastry Chef on M6, she has formed a fantastic duo with Cyril Lignac. Over the years, Mercotte has established itself as an essential figure in the chain. Every year, viewers can observe the wonderful bond she has with her partner. But far from the cameras, it is with her lifelong companion that she maintains a special relationship. A subject that the 82-year-old host raised on the set of It begins today.
Mercotte opens up about his married life
Mercotte has always been discreet when it comes to her private life. That said, we know that she is in love with André-Jean, her partner of almost 60 years. The couple are also parents of four children. Concerning her family cocoon, she confided to Faustine Bollaert: “I got married, I had four children at the same time, so it's good, we've passed ten years.”. In the process, Mercotte admitted that this family life takes up space. “We don’t have much time to take an interest in cooking… It takes a lot of time”she said, bluntly.
“When I got married, I didn’t even know how to cook an egg.”
You should know that at the very beginning of her relationship with her husband, the cooking enthusiast did not have the level that she demands from the participants of the show. Despite everything, Mercotte was able to bounce back and surround himself with the best to better improve in the field. “When I got married, I didn’t even know how to cook an egg!”she said. And to continue:
“I assume… But it doesn’t matter, I learned”. The latter, with a touch of humor, then indicated that she should not be asked “only ham shells”.
Today, she is none other than the emblematic face of Best Pastry Chef and well deserves her place.
Revelations about his family life
In another interview given to our colleagues at Gala, Mercotte agreed to share some little personal confidences. “My husband is of Italian origin, so apart from pasta…! He is a gourmand, but not a gourmet”she said. And to add without stopping: “My children and grandchildren, on the other hand, I have always accustomed them to going to starred restaurants. I have ten grandchildren and those, aged 26, 24, 21 and 20, have only been to starred restaurants. , and not just any ones!”Then conclude, specifying: “They really know what it’s like to eat well.”
