Elton John must be patient. The 77-year-old icon is still suffering from the after-effects of an infection which caused him to lose sight in his right eye during the summer. After sharing his setbacks with his audience on social networks in September, the singer of Rocket Man recently gave some less than reassuring news about his eye.
“Unfortunately, I lost the sight in my right eye in July because I had an infection during my vacation in the south of France,” he confided in an interview with Good Morning America. It's been four months now since I saw anything. And my left eye is not in the best shape.” Fortunately, the prospect of a cure remains possible. “There is hope and encouragement that everything will be okay,” he added.
“I can’t see the words”
The star is nevertheless forced to slow down certain projects in the meantime. “I'm kind of stuck in the moment, because I can do something like that (answer an interview), but go into the studio and record, I don't know,” he admitted. Because I don't see the lyrics to begin with. » The singer and his entourage are meanwhile trying to “take initiatives” to “improve” the situation. “You're unlucky when something like that happens and it kind of upset me. I can’t see anything, I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything,” he continued.
In the Instagram message informing of his health problem two months earlier, Elton John had already explained that the healing process would be “extremely slow”: “it will take time before sight returns to the affected eye. » However, despite the slowdown caused by his eye, the singer has accompanied several projects in recent weeks, including the documentary on his life, Elton John : Never Too Lateand the upcoming release of an album with Bernie Tauping, announced last year.
