Philippe Vasseur (Les Mystères de l’amour) settles accounts with production: “a text with two bullets and one strike”

For 32 years, Philippe Vasseur played the role of José in popular seriesHélène and the boys”, “The Miracle of Love”, “The Holidays of Love” Then “The mysteries of love” still in production.

He, who ended his collaboration with AB Productions in December 2023, is now a painter. And at 58, he has things to say about his old job.

Philippe Vasseur rails against his role in “Helene and the boys”

In the columns of Courrier Picard, this November 23, 2024, he explains the frustrations and satisfactions he had at work. He remembers in fact that the rhythm was “Pure madness.” And to explain: “We arrived early in the morning, at the time of the call that concerned you and presto! makeup, then we shot an entire 26-minute episode without knowing what time we would finish.”

To the point where he notes: “We continued, we continued, not really time to be good with two-ball-and-one-take text…“Besides, Philippe Vasseur even finds that José is a bit of a “nasty”. A lack of subtlety in the script, which was not just his lot, assures the actor.

With his colleagues, he assures: “We didn't have much to gain from these texts but no chance of being able to demonstrate what we knew how to do elsewhere and we never got a chance to give these characters some muscle.

However, Philippe Vasseur assures that he “don’t spit in the soup.” And to explain: “I took this job, it gave me a living, I formed very strong bonds with Hélène, Patrick… I loved Claude des Muslés (Framboisier, died in 2015), he was pure rock! I have a lot of respect for Dorothée.”

What he doesn't regret

Regarding the latter, he also insists: “I wasn't in the forefront at the Club, I was less in demand for promotions, but she was really kind. And I had some crazy encounters like Ray Charles. Dorothée is a rock fan, she had the biggest ones for her show“.

Today, Philippe Vasseur is no longer José, but he does not deny anything about his career on the small screen. He assures the fans who come to greet him: “If someone asks me a photo, a dedication, I will do it with pleasure. I respect those who have lived with my character José, I live very well with that“. Phew.
