The French audiovisual landscape is in mourning this Monday, July 1st. Jean-Pierre Descombes, former host known for The 8pm games on FR3, died of Parkinson’s disease. The announcement was made by his son to AFP, who indicated that his father had passed away this Sunday, June 30 at the age of 76.

The star presenter of the 80s had been battling this disease for about ten years, trying in vain to hide it. However, he had to reveal this problem following his appearances on C8, in The Big Laugh. “During a show with Cyril Hanouna where I was doing the neither yes nor no, I had to go on at 1am and the pills I had taken were no longer working. That’s when it was revealed. I couldn’t hide it, the cameras were there at every moment.”explained Jean-Pierre Descombes afterwards at Jordan de Luxe.

The departure of the host and former voice-over of Right price et The Golden Family inevitably moved his peers. Many did not hide their admiration for their former colleague.

On social networks, tributes followed one another during the morning. Philippe Risoli said “infinitely sad” to learn of this disappearance. Maxime Guény, columnist at Cyril Hanouna, was also moved by this sudden departure. “I have a moving thought today for Jean-Pierre Descombes, an emblematic figure of television, who has left us.
