While the dissolution of the National Assembly by Emmanuel Macron turned out to be a completely failed calculation on the part of the head of state, some of his relatives are starting to gently distance themselves. It was in this “end of reign” atmosphere, to paraphrase a paper by “Marianne” on the subject, that Stéphane Bern spoke. Because he too could be impacted.

The French political scene is going through a real storm. After the triumph of the National Rally in the European elections, Emmanuel Macron tried a very daring poker move, and sharply criticized within his own camp, by dissolving the National Assembly. After three weeks of campaigning, the axe has fallen: his camp is only the third political force in the country, and its failure is a done deal.

This news was probably poorly received by a certain Stéphane Bern. A supporter of Emmanuel Macron, the PAF star has been at the head of the Heritage Mission since 2017, a project that aims to restore and safeguard French heritage. It was Macron himself who appointed him, so obviously, given the current context, concern could be legitimate.

Stéphane Bern talks about his future and his relationship with the Macrons

In an interview with “Télé Poche”, the famous host nevertheless made it known that he intended to continue his task, despite the great government upheaval that is coming:

Worried? Not at all. First, it’s a presidential mission, so as long as the president maintains his confidence in me, I’ll continue.

Furthermore, Stéphane Bern does not believe that the new legislature, whatever it may be, will decide to put an end to this Heritage Mission:

It is true that the Heritage Mission benefits from the Lottery money and that the deputies must continue to vote for the State share allocated to it. But it would be very unpopular for a legislative majority to stop this financial windfall for heritage.

You will have understood: as long as Emmanuel Macron is at the helm, the sixty-year-old feels protected. It must be said that he has never hidden his enthusiasm for the President of the Republic, as he explained with these terms in the columns of “Le Monde” in 2023:

People say I’m Macron’s friend, but no, I’m the king’s jester.

And to those who mention his privileged links with the wife of the head of state, he retorts:

I love Brigitte Macron, as one loves a friend. But you know, maybe that’s not the person I’m going to call at three in the morning if I feel like my heart is stopping, you know?

While Emmanuel Macron accumulates failures, ever more isolated and unpopular, Stéphane Bern hopes to continue to be at the helm of the Heritage Mission until at least 2027. The good news for the host is that the President has made it known that he has no intention of resigning, and that he will complete his mandate. It remains to be seen what the new government will decide about the future of this mission…
