Jérémy Frérot returned to the forefront with his new album, Sand Kidreleased on Friday September 13, 2024.
The singer has gone through difficult times in recent years. During an interview with Télé-Loisirs, he spoke about his private life, and in particular the episode of depression that he crossed.
Jérémy Frérot very anxious during the release of his album
After separating from Laure Manaudou and having made a two-year break in his career, Jérémy Frérot made his return last September. The singer was leaving Sand Kidhis third album. With this very personal project, he wanted to pay homage to his native region, the Arcachon basin.
Jérémy Frérot ensures not having been very calm when his album was released. Friday September 13, 2024, while Sand Kid was finally available, the singer explained on Europe 1: “I curled up under my duvet and I cried“.
Jérémy Frérot: “I had a fever, I was shaking”
As said above, Jérémy Frérot put a lot of himself into his new album. The song Adieu evokes, for example, his painful separation. “It was the song that kind of started all the others. I was in the studio, but I was disturbed, a little lost. I had just experienced an intense emotional change in my personal life and I started writing on this subject. It came out very naturally. I wrote down what my children were told by their mother to tell them that we were going to change our lives“he declared to Télé-Loisirs.
The recording of this song was very trying for Jérémy Frérot who says he was “fell ill very quickly, within ten minutes” at the studio. Yet, Adieu is the first single from his album, a sign that this piece is important to him. For the singer, it was a great introduction to his new universe and especially to this intimate and personal project.
The singer fell into depression
But the singer wanted to confide more on a darker period of his life. For example, he spoke of the suicidal thoughts he may have had a few years ago. “When, with Flo Delavega, we signed with a record label, I moved to Paris and it was very, very hard for me to leave the Arcachon area, what I had never done“he explains.
Jérémy Frérot then fell in depression. After four years of living in Paris, he returned to Marseille before returning to his Arcachon basin. Since then, the one who had made himself known in The Voice assures that he has found a form of peace. “It’s just a question of organization: I can leave in the morning, dress my children, put the snack in the school bag, take the train, promote in Paris and come back in the evening”he emphasizes. In any case, we hope that his demons are now behind him and that he will be able to keep moving forward.
