Host of the “20 Hour Games” on FR3 from 1976 to 1987, Jean-Pierre Descombes died at his home this Sunday, June 30, at the age of 76 as a result of Parkinson’s disease, his son announced to the AFP.

Sad news. Host Jean-Pierre Descombes, known for having presented the “20 Hour Games” on FR3 from 1976 to 1987, died at his home this Sunday, June 30, his son announced to AFP. For more than ten years, he had suffered from Parkinson’s disease. Originally from Romans-sur-Isère, he realized his dream of being a television host in the 1970s.

After leaving the famous general knowledge game, where he asked questions to celebrities and anonymous candidates in duplex from a provincial town, with the complicity of the famous Master Capello (real name, Jacques Capelovici), Jean- Pierre Descombes had provided the voice-over for other television games such as “Le Juste Prix” and “Une famille en or” on TF1.

In the 2000s, Jean-Pierre Descombes had retrained in hosting shows, galas and other events, such as the tour of former French variety stars, “Âge tendre et tête de bois”. In 2018, he had joined Cyril Hanouna and the gang of “Touche pas à mon poste” on C8 for a while, and participated in the show “La grosse rigolade”.
