War in Ukraine: American rapper Kanye West in Moscow to meet Vladimir Putin?

According to Russian media, Kanye West has arrived in the Russian capital.

American rapper Kanye West, now known as Ye, is known for making several anti-Semitic remarks, which led social networks Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) to suspend his accounts, has also expressed his support for Vladimir Putin and expressed, on several occasions, his desire to meet him.

“Kanye West is in Moscow! What fantastic news! He’s staying in the heart of the capital! Fingers crossed for the concert at the Luzhniki!”producer Yana Rudkovskaya announced on June 30 on her Telegram channel, as reported by the independent Russian media Meduza.

Moskvichka magazine, affiliated with the rare book publishing house created by Kristina Potupchik, released a video purporting to show the rapper in an underpass near Okhotny Ryad in Moscow. However, the authenticity of the footage remains uncertain.

For a birthday?

According to Russian media reports, Kanye West has arrived in Moscow to celebrate the birthday of Gosha Rubchinsky, the lead designer of West’s streetwear brand Yeezy. Rubchinsky turned 40 on June 29. Rubchinsky’s colleague Alena Tkach confirmed to REN that West was present for the birthday. Rubchinsky’s agent also confirmed this information on the Shot Telegram channel. Kanye West is reportedly in Moscow on a private visit, the official Russian news agency TASS reports.

The possibility of a meeting with Vladimir Putin has not been ruled out.

The press service of the Luzhniki Stadium, Russia’s largest sports arena, confirmed that no contract had been signed for a possible Kanye West concert there.

Last May, stadium managers had already denied rumors concerning a concert by the rapper in Moscow, after some Telegram channels had announced a show scheduled for June 8.
