Actor Bill Cobbs, who appeared in more than 200 films and series during his long career in Hollywood, died on June 25, 2024 at the age of 90, Le Parisien reported on Thursday, June 27.

An actor with 200 roles has just passed away at his home in California. American actor Bill Cobbs died on June 25 of natural causes, at the age of 90, announced his representative Chuck I. Jones, relayed by Le Parisien, Thursday, June 27. The actor, who was used to supporting roles, began a long career on the small and big screen in 1974, with a short-lived role in The Pirates of the Subway. During his 50 years on film sets, the actor was extremely prolific.

Among the best-known roles in his filmography, we find in particular the actor alongside Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner in 1992 in the cult film Bodyguard where he plays the singer’s manager. One of his other notable roles is that of a security guard, Reginald, in Night at the Museum (2006) where he plays alongside Ben Stiller. He has also appeared in dozens of TV films as well as famous series such as Six Feet Under (2001), The Sopranos (1999) or The Scott brothers (2008).

He has played for great directors

If Bill Cobbs was more accustomed to supporting roles, the American actor had the trust of many great directors and producers. He played for Martin Scorsese in The Color of Money (1986), for Clint Eastwood in Bird (1988), for the Coen brothers in The big jump (1994) or for Tom Hanks in That Thing You Do ! (1996) and Francis Ford Coppola in Jack (1996). Unfortunately, his many small roles never won him a major award.
