Like Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud quickly became an essential and indispensable element to the French football team. And for good reason, the 38-year-old sportsman largely contributed to leading our country to victory during the World Cup in 2018. Likewise, the latter has achieved other great performances during his career. Champion of France and Italy, top scorer and even winner of the Europa League, Olivier Giroud has well and truly earned his status as a football star.
Olivier Giroud insists on the importance of studies
Today, Jennifer's husband lives in Los Angeles. Like Lionel Messi, Olivier Giroud has decided to end his career in the sun. “I'm still there with my competitive spirit, but life is very pleasant”he recently confided in front of the Téléfoot cameras. And to add: “Since I have been here I have played baseball, American football, a little beach volleyball. Here you have to adapt to the culture. (…) If someone had told me a few years ago that I would finish in Los Angeles, I would have signed directly”. This has the merit of being clear.
Quite a career that he has not always favored. And rightly so. Because long before being the football star we know, Olivier Giroud was a student like any other and particularly serious when it came to his schooling. With the media 1jour1actu.com, the latter affirms:
“Diplomas are the most important thing! And then have fun with your friends and in tournaments”.
This professor who left his mark on the athlete
For the Girouds, school is a serious matter and Olivier even managed to reconcile school with his passion for sport: “My parents wanted me to have at least the baccalaureate. I got it and I even went to college for two years in STAPS (sports professions). I was still in college when I started playing pro. It felt good to be around people who had nothing to do with football. It gave me balance.”he confided to our colleagues.
One thing is certain, Olivier Giroud has excellent memories of school and of one subject in particular.
“History-geography! I was passionate about the Second World War and the Cold War.”assures the athlete. “I had a great teacher who made me love this subject. I also enjoyed languages, English and Italian, and of course I loved PE.”.
Olivier Giroud showered with compliments by his former teacher
Olivier Giroud may not know it, but his history and geography teacher also has excellent memories of the student he was. Questioned by Radio France, the latter in fact only had good things to say about Kylian Mbappé's accomplice.
“He was a student who was passing his baccalaureate. He is a superb studentlike his career: very humble, modest, hardworkingkeen to do well, to show an impeccable attitude off the pitch as well as on the pitch. He really listened. Seeing Olivier in the World Cup is something that warms my heart because he deserves it.”. This should certainly delight the main person concerned.
