Recently, the host returned to a very embarrassing moment which could have turned into a drama during which he injured Zinedine Zidane with a knife.
A sketch that goes wrong
Several years ago, Benjamin Castaldi was invited to a charity event linked with an association created by Zinédine Zidane. The event was filmed and was to be broadcast on TF1. During filming, the host, alongside Jean-Pierre Foucault, had to produce a short humorous sketch.
Jean-Pierre Foucault was blindfolded and had to pretend to throw knives on targets as well as on balls, located between the legs of Zinédine Zidane. Benjamin Castaldi was responsible for planting the knives to create the illusion. Nothing dangerous so far but the scene will quickly get out of hand.
Benjamin Castaldi injures Zinédine Zidane with a knife
The host explains that when he puts the knife in the balloon, he misses and pushes the blade into the footballer's thigh. Zinédine Zidane very quickly noticed that the wound was quite deep. “I swing a knife and I actually take his thigh and I cut him six inches on his thigh. He obviously started bleeding.”explains Benjamin Castaldi, very embarrassed.
Even in retirement, the former Real Madrid player found himself with an injury which could well have compromised his career if he was still active. “Fortunately, he no longer played football“tried to reassure the son of Jean-Pierre Castaldi.
Zidane was very angry with the host
Zinédine Zidane was not only surprised by the host's clumsiness. He was also angry because he was getting ready to go on vacation. But because of his injury, he was unable to enjoy it as he wanted. “I can tell you that his vacation in the sun and the sea was a little compromised”says Benjamin Castaldi.
The former footballer will emerge with a beautiful scar as well as a ban on swimming for several weeks. Benjamin Castaldi tells this anecdote with a smile but still a little embarrassedbecause the incident could have turned into a tragedy.
