At first, the Perpignan public believed that the fall was part of the show, as Jarry explains. It was only after seeing him lose consciousness a second time that everyone understood that it was more serious.
At the hospital, Jarry finally received the doctors' diagnosis: he suffers from gluten intolerance, also called celiac disease in France. To prevent such discomfort from happening again, the comedian simply had to ban wheat from his diet.
The characteristic symptoms of gluten intolerance include bloating, flatulence, constipation and chronic diarrhea, according to the Cerballiance website. He also specifies that 1% of the French population has an intolerance to gluten.
