We are in autumn and this weekend was particularly suitable for walks. It was an opportunity to admire the different yellow and orange hues on the trees. Although the leaves are sometimes dangerous for motorists, they follow a natural cycle and are an asset for the soil…
A little sunshine, a carpet of dead leaves of all colors, all it takes is to amaze walkers. “Very very beautiful… the color, all the tones, it’s magnificent”details a walker. “With the sun, and the leaves which are green and yellow while we walk, it’s magnificent”launches another.
Daniel Fleury has made it his profession: he is a nature photographer and immortalizes the seasons. His secret: a special light… “We have to find lights that delight us: not too harsh, with a little cloud if possible to give softness to the image. Every day for me is a wonder,” explains the enthusiast. .
With autumn, temperatures drop and the sun is less present. This is a signal for trees to disconnect their solar energy sensors in the leaves, preventing sap from passing through.
“As soon as there is no more sap, the leaf falls back on itself, it dies very slowly and then you have the coloring which begins to diminish little by little and it changes color,” explains Jean -Claude Mangeot, forest ranger.
Photosynthesis is stopped and chlorophyll disappears: the tree goes into “hibernation” mode. In addition to delighting walkers, fallen leaves have a use since they nourish the soil. Nature is definitely well done.
