Friday November 1, 2024, Brest residents Gilbert Diverrez and Gérard Tymoigne hung their paintings on the walls of the Moulin-Blanc Youth Hostel, in Brest, until December 31, under the name “Brest and the sea “. The two painters met two years ago at a show in Saint-Renan. A friendship was born and their desire to promote Brest was reinforced.
Picturesque
For Gérard Tymoigne, Brest is a most picturesque city “as a thing worthy of being painted”, which has the advantage of having an upper and lower town. “The upper town offers numerous belvederes over the lower town, so that one can imagine a “belvedere circuit” which would extend from the heights of the Moulin Blanc to the overlooking views of the Goulet”. He offers some of these perspectives, in watercolor.
Gilbert Diverrez is a confirmed amateur painter. “My acrylic paintings offer maritime scenes, sailboats, old tugboats. I like to mix all these boats. Red is my favorite color and this shade gives strength to my paintings,” he says. There are a lot of drawings there. He explains: “I’m a fan of the clear line. This gives a little cartoonish feel to the paintings and brings a perception of precise work.”
Practical
The opening will take place on November 8, at 8 p.m., at the youth hostel in Brest.
