Postmortem dialogue

What are they thinking? Do they hear the photographers screaming their names? Do they like it? Or would they prefer to be at home, sprawled on the couch, in boxers and a soft-necked T-shirt watching an addictive series? No one knows, because, in Cannes, existential questions and doubts are carried away by the flow of screenings and climbs of stairs… So here is the director David Cronenberg and the actors Diane Kruger and Vincent Cassel who have come to present The Shrouds, the story of the inventor of a revolutionary system allowing one to connect to extinct beings.

Glacial gaze

How can we get to the heart of the matter other than by talking about David Cronenberg’s glasses? For several years, from ceremony to preview, from festival to red carpet, the Canadian director has indeed worn this funny pair which has become the material symbol of his creativity and his futurophilia. But what is it, concretely? A pair of glacier glasses from the Julbo brand, developed in partnership with the Chamonix National Ski and Mountaineering School. His price ? 155 euros.

Double vision

At his side, Vincent Cassel also wore a pair of sunglasses. Much more classic in style, they also deserve an explanation. In the world of eyewear, lenses are classified into five categories, ranging from lightest to darkest. Here, the actor opted for a pair equipped with class 1 lenses, very lightly colored and allowing 85% of light to pass through. These lenses can therefore be easily worn indoors without reducing vision. To tell it to yourself during a festival, it’s ideal.

Bitter Cup

Let’s be honest, this soft plum-colored suit is much less ideal. First, because it has notched lapels, completely out of place on a double-breasted jacket, which requires peak lapels. Then, and above all, because its cut turns out to be terribly imprecise. In addition to the excessively low buttoning, we will note, between the collar of the shirt and that of the jacket, a gaping space that specialists call collar gap and which they hold in absolute horror.

Day of gathers

Faced with so many inaccuracies, let’s rejoice in being able to admire, right next to it, the dress worn by actress Diane Kruger. This creation achieves the astonishing feat of evoking a poorly placed liner at the bottom of a municipal swimming pool while promoting, in particular through this play of draping, the artisanal work inherent to haute couture. It’s signed Atelier Versace.
