This Saturday, the festivities continued, allowing other units to parade and also integrate the Civil Guard.

King Felipe VI was accompanied this Saturday May 25 by Queen Letizia, 51 years old. Queen Letizia went out of her way to attend the event, despite having a broken knuckle on one toe which affects her mobility and prevents her from standing for too long. For several weeks, Queen Letizia has no longer worn heeled pumps, which has completely changed her wardrobe. Without her heels, Queen Letizia no longer wears a dress and only wears pants. For this Armed Forces ceremony, this is a new break in dress protocol, since it is fashionable to wear very formal attire during this event.

Queen Letizia has always imposed her style, which has sometimes been criticized by conservatives. Since the reign of Isabel II in the 19th century, it has been traditional for women to wear the mantilla and comb, as well as black clothing, when attending military events. If Queen Sofia has always respected this tradition, Queen Letizia never wanted to follow this rule.

Queen Letizia prefers to put Spanish fashion in the spotlight, wearing more comfortable clothes in recent days, available on the shelves of Spanish ready-to-wear stores. This Saturday, the Queen of Spain wore a red pantsuit and suit set from the famous Spanish brand Mango. She wore her white sneakers from the specialist brand Vivobarefoot on her feet. Since her broken toe, the queen has only worn this pair of extremely comfortable shoes.

It was in 1978 that the annual commemoration of the Armed Forces was established to honor the armies, promote knowledge about the army and improve its integration into society. The ceremony mainly includes a military parade. The events take place every year in different cities. After Granada last year, the parade including more than 3,000 soldiers took place in Oviedo.
