“At 25, I was a millionaire”: The rare secrets of the famous musician Omar Harfouch, star of the Venice Film Festival

Omar Harfouch is one of the personalities who put their celebrity at the service of noble causes. Very committed to the humanitarian cause, the artist and businessman uses his talent in music to raise public awareness of injustices. Through his compositions, he wants to convey a message of fraternity, peace and tolerance. At the beginning of September, he was invited to the 81st Venice Film Festival to receive a very special award from the great actor Kevin Costner.

This is the opportunity to take an interest in this famous Franco-Lebanese musician and entrepreneur, especially since he has just given an interview for Technikart this Tuesday, October 15, in which he reveals his surprising and unique journey. “I am self-taught. In Tripoli, my hometown in northern Lebanon, there was no music school, so I started playing piano alone, and I have been composing by ear since I was little. Then, at 17, I won a competition organized by Gorbachev’s Soviet Union.

Result: he studied in Ukraine, where he quickly launched into business: “In 1994, I created Supernova there, the first FM radio in the history of Ukraine, and at 25, I was a millionaire.

Omar Harfouch millionaire at 25, but how?

How did he do it? “Well, when I asked Leonid Kuchma (president of Ukraine in the 1990s, editor’s note) about the FM band in 1994, he didn’t really understand why; back then, it was AM radio that mattered. So I was given all the FM frequencies! Then, every time someone wanted to buy an FM frequency, they did it from me. This is how my brother and I became millionaires.“, he told the magazine.

Before specifying: “Finally, my first million was thanks to Voice of America (the international radio of the American government, editor’s note).“A strategy which will therefore prove to be profitable for this virtuoso pianist. A very inspiring journey!

Finally, let us recall this magnificent evening, the “Concerto for Peace” organized by Omar Harfouch on Wednesday September 18 at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, with a host of celebrity, VIP and political guests which was a huge success;
