More than 40 years ago, she played the role of the little pest in the cult TV series, “Little House on the Prairie”. Alison Arngrim alias Nellie Oleson was the guest of Jordan de Luxe, this October 14, 2024.

Alison Arngrim is the daughter of Thor Arngrim, who was a Canadian-born Hollywood manager, and Norma MacMillan of Vancouver, British Columbia, who was an actress who notably lent her voice to the character Casper, the Friendly Ghost.

And if the star of the small screen testified “my family is in show business, I grew up in it“, she also talked about her dad’s coming out.

At Jordan de Luxe, Alison Arngrim explained: “Yes, it’s true, my father is gay, but he remained in his marriage to my mother, completely, all his life. But he was gay, or maybe bisexual.”

The American also believes: “but it was very common.” And added: “normally no one talks about that, but he talked about it with me, and I understand and I talk about it in the book (The Little Girl on the Prairie, her memoirs, editor’s note).”

Asked about the effect this announcement had on her life, Alison Arngrim, now aged 62, admitted: “This seems strange to you, but no, my mother and father were absolutely in love. They had no secrets from each other.”

His father left with a man

At the end, she said: “My father left with a man afterwards, but the two stayed together for life, it’s incredible, but it’s an incredible love story“.

And Alison Arngrim is full of praise for her dad, recalling: ““but he’s an incredible man, he was Liberace’s manager, and a lot of stars, in the ’70s, and he was an actor on Broadway.”
