Ivory Coast: O’nel Mala shows his admiration for Roseline Layo

According to Dean O’nel Mala, beyond being a very talented artist, Roseline Layo is also a promoter of Ivorian culture. And for this, he showed him his admiration.

Roseline Layo is one of these artists who promote Ivorian national languages. With her songs, notably “Plus Haut”, “Alloco” or “Môgô Fariman”, she inserts some Ivorian expressions to make them even more authentic.

Through this strategy, Roseline Layo attracted the admiration of the elders, namely Dean O’nel Mala. The latter first congratulated the artist for his way of promoting Ivorian culture.

Afterwards, he said that Roseline Layo is an example that his other fellow artists should follow. He expressed himself in these terms:

« When we know how to be content with who we are, with what we have and with what we do, then we naturally become an example for those who follow us. Promoting your language and culture is something divine.

When the Bible says Jesus of Nazareth, it reminds us of the origins of Jesus. It is also a message that shows that we must never forget where we come from.

It is therefore essential for an artist to promote his roots and his culture. Talent only finds its full meaning when it is put to the service of its community.

Youssou N’Dour, Koffi Olomidé, Salif Keïta, Mory Kanté… All these big names first promoted their culture before acquiring international fame.

It’s their base that propelled them. A tree that does not feed from its roots will eventually die.

The example of Roseline Layo is a strong message for all artists, especially the youngest: you must promote your roots to better rise.

It is by promoting our culture that we can truly flourish and inspire others ».
