Director Xavier Beauvois ( The little lieutenant, Of men and gods) looks back on his new film, The Valley of Fools. Filming took place partly in Finistère, notably in La Forêt-Fouesnant, in the closed town of Concarneau… A preview is scheduled for October 11, 2024 at the Cinéville de Concarneau.

Can you give us the synopsis of the film in a few words?

It’s the story of someone who does the Vendée Globe in his garden and in a boat, to try to resolve his family and financial problems, via the Virtual regatta game. The main role is played by Jean-Paul Rouve.

This film is a mixture of my passion for this ocean race and the game that I myself have done four times. It’s a very addictive, very realistic game. A bit like real skippers, you have to wake up at night and change course. It’s very nice.

What is your record on this game?

You should know that there are a million players. My best ranking is 65,000e.
