Chris Brown may have been an R&B superstar for two decades, but his career has been marred by numerous legal cases. The most tragically famous of these remains his attack on Rihanna in 2009, but unfortunately it is not the only one.

So many cases of domestic violence which will be at the center of a documentary entitled Chris Brown : A History of Violence broadcast by Investigation Discovery on October 27. It is this same channel which produced and broadcast Quiet on Seta documentary on the abuse perpetrated against child actors on the Nickelodeon channel, which made a lot of noise a few months ago.

A cycle of violence

The Chris Brown documentary promises to explore several acts of violence, alleged or for which he was convicted. In addition to the violence against Rihanna, which earned him community service, he also received a restraining order requested by his ex, Karrueche Tran in 2017. He has been prosecuted several times for sexual assault, the last accusation dating back to 2022. The case was dismissed by the courts.

“Chris Brown is an incredible and talented musician, but let’s call a spade a spade. He’s an abuser of women. Constantly, and never apologizing,” we can hear in the trailer. The film will also look at the impact of a cycle of violence dating back to the star’s childhood.

“With expert commentary throughout the film, the documentary offers in-depth reflections on each survivor’s experience and the psychological destruction that follows their abuse,” the producers said in a statement relayed by the Hollywood Reporter.

After the broadcast, Sunny Hostin, co-host of The Viewwill lead a discussion with experts on domestic violence. One way for Investigation Discovery to raise public awareness of this scourge, as part of an annual campaign called No Excuse for Abuse inaugurated three years ago.
