2 Césars, awarded at … The actor’s impressive track record

A great man of French cinema, Michel Blanc was recognized by the public but also by the cinema community, with more than 16 nominations and 6 distinctions in total.

A great track record. Michel Blanc, known for numerous films and especially for his participation in the Splendid troupe, died this Friday, October 4. “Monument of French cinema”, as Emmanuel Macron designated him during a tribute on social networks, Michel Blanc has obtained numerous awards and nominations thanks to his long career.

As an actor, but also as a screenwriter, the interpreter of the unforgettable Jean-Claude Dusse has made his place in the 7th art at the international level. In 1985, Michel Blanc was nominated for the first time in his career as a screenwriter at the Césars ceremony, for Best First Work in “Marche à l’ombre”.

Awarded at the Film Festival

The following year, in 1986, he received his first prize during the Cannes Film Festival. Indeed, thanks to Bertrand Blier’s film: “Evening Wear”, where he shared the bill with Gérard Depardieu, the native received the prize for Best Male Performance. In front of all the elite of world cinema, Michel Blanc received the first award of his career.

He won again at the Cannes Film Festival in 1994, for “Grosse fatigue”, where he received the Vulcain Artist-Technician Prize.

Caesar’s patience

After his first nomination in 1985, Michel Blanc was nominated in 1987 and 1990 in the best actor category, before being nominated in 1995 and 2003 for best original screenplay for “Grosse fatigue” and “Kiss whoever you want” . In 2007 and 2008, he was again nominated in the best actor category in “I find you very handsome” and “The Witnesses”.

Finally, in 2012, Michel Blanc received the César for best supporting actor in “The Exercise of the State”. He received a new César in 2021 thanks to the Splendid troupe for the 40th anniversary of the Le Splendid Saint-Martin café-theater.

Furthermore, he received the RAIMU Actor Prize in “I find you very handsome”. He also won an award at the Cabourg Film Festival, where he was awarded the Swann d’Or for best actor. Michel Blanc was also nominated in the Best Look category in “Les Bronzés 3 amis pour la vie” at the NRJ Ciné Awards, but also as Best Actor in “I Find You Beautiful” at the Lumières de la presse française.
