VIDEO – The daughter-in-law of the man who had a thousand lives, businessman, politician and even sportsman, publishes an intimate book three years after his death.

Lurking like Bernardthis is the title of her book, but also a phrase that Marie Griessinger-Tapie regularly pronounces so that her interlocutors write her name correctly. When she was 16, she met Laurent, the youngest son of Bernard Tapie, who would become her husband and the father of her children. In her book, which comes out on October 3 from Presses de la Cité, she shares her moments of complicity with her father-in-law, who died in 2021.

This book is “to fill the void”she explains this Monday, September 30 on the set of “C à vous”. “With hindsight, we realize that despite all the faults that he carried around like a brass band that heckled him, he had a very human core. In the family, he was an extraordinary father, grandfather and father-in-law.she adds. “For thirty years, I had a stepfather who was there for everything. For my children, for my parents when they were sick”remembers Marie Griessinger-Tapie.

There is this class complex rage that has driven him all his life.

Marie Griessinger-Tapie, about Bernard Tapie

Bernard Tapie was a pillar for his family who until the end did not believe in his disappearance. “We never talked about the aftermath because we never talked about death. Until the last day, his family did not believe that he could be defeated by anything”explains Marie Griessinger-Tapie.

A denial which was not without consequences: “We were absolutely not prepared, neither emotionally nor administratively”. “We found ourselves without him overnight. You imagine the void it can feel when a man like that disappears”the author testifies this evening in the 5 talk show hosted by Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine.

An energy and an anger

In 1990, in “The Hour of Truth”, Bernard Tapie denounced “money inequality”. A passage which “says everything about him” and who “also speaks to new generations”estimates Marie Griessinger-Tapie. “We have the impression that there is this rage of class complex which has driven him all his life, which has undeniably carried him. He had energy and anger.she analyzes. “He was someone who was excessive in everything, but who could be counted on”.
