a famous French coach in demand?

After the departure of Vitor Bruno following the defeat conceded this weekend at Barcelos (3-1), FC Porto is looking for a new coach.

This will be one of André Villas-Boas's first strong choices at the head of FC Porto. While Vitor Bruno, whom he appointed coach at the very beginning of his mandate, was recently dismissed from his position, the club president is currently in charge of finding a worthy successor. Studying several avenues, AVB would notably intend to solicit a famous French coach.

A Frenchman on the FC Porto bench?

In recent hours, the name of Rudi Garcia has emerged in the Portuguese press. According to the channel V+TVI, the former coach of Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de would indeed be one of the priority targets studied by André Villas-Boas to take over Vitor Bruno's position at the head of FC Port.

A rather surprising track, insofar as the Frenchman has seen his rating drop sharply in recent years. Dismissed from his position at Al-Nassr, Rudi Garcia then experienced great difficulties leading a Napoli team that was the reigning Italian champion during the 2023/24 season.

Without a club for more than a year (November 2023), Rudi Garcia, however, seems to have several requests on his desk. If he could therefore be courted by FC Porto, the French coach would also be in pole position to take the reins of the Belgian national team.

Other avenues studied

In addition to the information from V+TVI, several other technicians have recently been linked to FC Porto. This is particularly the case of the club's former coach, Luis Castro, who could make his comeback after having had various experiences in Portugal and abroad. Former Brazilian coach Tite would also be one of the names checked by the club's management, looking for a new strong man to sit on their bench.

For now, the choice of the new FC Porto coach remains a big question mark. However, the new president of the club, André Villas-Boas, will have to make the right choice for the rest of the events, while his first decision was not successful.
