“I am happy to denounce Nazism – and the far right. Does this help clarify things? […] I always wonder how to approach things diplomatically, because I feel overwhelmed,” Grimes wrote on Tuesday on the X platform, indicating that she wanted to put the “well-being of my children” first.

Without wanting to hasten a “rash statement” in relation to the Nazi-appearing salute posed by her former partner Elon Musk, with whom she shares three children, the 36-year-old musician from Vancouver broke the silence after being hounded by her admirers in line, noted “The Independent”.

“It’s absurd that someone can be so ‘cancelled’ for something their ex did, before they even hear about it. I’m not him. I will not make a statement every time he does something,” she responded Tuesday morning to one of her fans, specifying, however, that she “deeply respect his concern.”

“But if it raises concerns, I am happy to set the record straight in a meaningful way,” she continued in a second message on the social network belonging to the 53-year-old multi-billionaire, promising to a head on the situation.

The Canadian singer-songwriter has also clarified that she does not want to cause an “international scandal” by taking advantage of the situation to “say bullshit” and be on the cover of magazines, we can read.

“I choose the well-being of my children. I promise you it doesn’t feel good to be hated all the time for things I don’t even know about, can’t predict or control. But I also chose this path, I accept it,” she said.

For his part, Elon Musk himself responded to the controversy by saying he was “tired” of this type of attacks, without however categorically denying having wanted to imitate the fascist gesture, noted “The Independent”.

The gesture continues to divide historians: while several have insisted that it was indeed a perceived Nazi salute, others have rather classified the gesture as “a socially awkward hand signal from an autistic man », to use the words of historian Aaron Astor to AFP.

In 2021, the richest man in the world announced that he had Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism, according to the news agency.
