The M1 linking Lausanne to Renens is saturated during rush hours. But a project to strengthen the capacities of this line is not envisaged by the Vaud Council of State before 2036, while work was initially planned for 2028, revealed “24 Heures” in December. MP Hadrien Buclin (Together on the Left and POP) obtained some answers on Tuesday before the Grand Council on the situation.
The Vaud State Councilor in charge of Infrastructure, Nuria Gorrite, admitted that the differences of views between the Canton and the municipalities regarding the infrastructure necessary for the line led to delays in this file. She clarified that the Vaud government had “no desire” to delay the modernization of the M1, but that the project had not yet reached the level of maturity necessary to obtain funding from the Confederation. Nuria Gorrite mentioned the period 2032-2036 to make this project a reality, provided that the Canton and the municipalities find common ground.
