That's it, we know if AI will steal your job (or find you one) in 2030

Is your job on the list of professions expected to disappear by 2030 because of artificial intelligence? The World Economic Forum has just released a report on the issue. While many professions risk being disrupted by advances in AI, others could also benefit. Nova reviews this fatal document…

This Wednesday, January 15, was the kickoff of the 54th World Economic Forum (WEF), organized, as tradition dictates, in Davos, Switzerland. More than 60 chefsstate fes are expectedare at this famous annual meeting, not to mention the hundreds of economic leaders, for an event that its detractors consider to be the incarnation of a certain economic imperialism. In addition to these political considerations, the World Economic Forum has just made public an intriguing report on the professions which, according to it, will disappear within 5 years, due to the rise of artificial intelligence and those which, on the contrary , could benefit from it. And we have good news and bad news.

170 million new positions… Against 92 million lost positions

The good news is that, according to the World Economic Forum document, the widespread use of AI in virtually all areas is expected to lead to the creation of 170 million new jobs. The bad news is that according to this same document, the gradual integration of AI into our society should also lead to the elimination of 92 million positions. On either side, rapid technological advances and demographic changes are expected to lead to major upheavals for many professions such as bank employees. If you are one of them, the future apparently does not look bright. The same goes for postal workers and cashiers: the World Economic Forum expects a rapid decline in these sectors of activity by 2030.

Which professions are affected by AI?

To arrive at these results, the World Economic Forum studied data from more than 1,000 large companies, representing a total of more than 14 million workers. The Forum was particularly interested in recruitment trends and the strategies put in place. We mentioned bank and post office employees, cashiers, but we must also mention administrative agents, secretaries and even data entry operators. The study by the World Economic Forum is clear: all these professions are set to disappear. On the other hand, we could witness an opposite dynamic in other sectors, such as agricultural workers, delivery workers, construction workers and workers working in the agri-food industry. Nurses, teachers, social workers, but also counselors and personal caregivers should also see their number increase in the next five years.

And of course, the Tech sector will prosper

Obviously, the technology sector is not left out and should still have a few good days ahead of it. Specialists in artificial intelligence or machine learning and developers, all should continue to see their field develop, as will that of jobs linked to ecological transition and renewable energies. Let us point out, to conclude, that we are not obliged to believe the World Economic Forum…
